Therapy is different for everyone! Some people find it helpful to have an ongoing relationship with their therapist in order to get an outside perspective, build internal awareness, and make meaningful changes in their behaviors. They may come in more often when feeling stressed, and less often when things are going smoothly. For others, it is a short term focused treatment on a specific issue. No matter where you are in your journey, we will work together to figure out the best plan for you.

"EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference." Yes, there are things like moving your eyes back and forth, or holding buzzers. It seems a little weird, right? Turns out it's a very well studied, effective treatment that can start working quickly to provide emotional relief. Let’s talk more to see if this is the right treatment for you. EMDR is only one of several approaches I use in my therapeutic style.

I am in-network for Pacific Source Community Solutions (OHP) and Pacific Source commercial plans as well as MODA. I also accept self-pay clients at my rate of $175. I can provide a super bill to submit as an out of network provider if I don't take your insurance.

Nope. The people who can prescribe medications are your general doctor, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, or a psychiatrist. In therapy, we can talk about medications if that's part of your plan, but we will also focus on other coping skills and strategies.

Yes. Please let me know ahead of time if you have any physical limitations or other accommodation requests. My office is located upstairs, but I can use a first floor office if needed. I am happy to adjust the environment as much as possible to fit your needs and create a comfortable space for you!

I have an intermediate level of Spanish, however, I do not conduct therapy in Spanish. I can try to help you find a spanish speaking therapist if that’s what you’re looking for.

Absolutely. I will not be offended if my style is not the right fit for you. Finding the right therapist is such an important part of the process and it's not uncommon to try a couple therapists before finding 'the one.' I recommend attending at least 2-3 sessions before making a change. If you want to talk about how to find a different style of therapist, I'd be happy to help find someone for you in our community.

LPC= licensed professional counselor (that’s me!) This is someone with a master’s degree specifically in counseling who has become fully licensed to practice therapy independently.
LCSW=licensed clinical social worker. This is also someone with a master's degree, and is also fully licensed to practice therapy independently. Social work school has a more global focus on systemic issues rather than the individual. Otherwise, LPC and LCSW are very similar.
LPCA/LPCI/LCSWI= licensed professional counselor associate. You may also see this as an 'intern' or 'pre-licensed.' This is someone who has completed their master's degree but has not yet met the clinical hour requirements to be fully licensed. They can provide therapy under a licensed supervisor.
MFT=marriage and family therapist. This is also someone with a master's degree who is licensed to practice therapy. Their focus is on couples and families.
PsyD or PhD= this is a psychologist who has a doctorate degree in psychology. Their higher education program is 4 years+ and they can also provide therapy. The cost for this clinician tends to be higher.
CADC = certified alcohol and drug counselor
